100 Workout Challenge- DO IT!

The 100 Workout Challenge is one of my favorite challenges. The goal is to get 100 workouts between July 1st and December 31st. It averages out to ~4 workouts/week. If you’ve been on the fence, I highly recommend doing it for these reasons:

Anyone can do this challenge. Yes, that includes YOU! It’s not about talent or putting in one big effort. It’s about showing up consistently for yourself and your goals. It may seem intimidating but trust me you can do it with proper planning and follow through. Just start!

Working out becomes routine. You can’t fake your way through this challenge. You have to show up and do the work week after week. When you do that for 6 months, it becomes part of your normal life.

Working towards a goal that feels slightly out of reach is a great motivator. It forces you to grow as a person. It also adds a little good stress that keeps you focused and aware.

You plan out workouts. To be successful you can’t just wing it. You need to plan out when you will be working out each week to make sure you stay on point. Pro Tip: get 5 workouts/week in the beginning to make sure you still reach your goal if an illness or something unexpected happens at the end of the challenge.

Workouts get prioritized. Not only do you plan out your workouts, but you show up. On a day when the snooze button is calling, you choose to get up and make your workout. On a day when you feel lazy and just want to watch TV, you show up. You have a little extra push, one more reason to work out when you just don’t feel like it. You will be so glad you showed up for yourself. If you were tired before, you will have energy!

You get an infusion of support and motivation. The support of others doing this challenge is so motivating. People check in with one another, ask where you are at with their workout count, and enthusiastically cheer for you when you finally hit that 100th workout!

You get to check off 100 boxes! For all my type A people, you will love this. You get the extra satisfaction of checking off each workout as you complete it.

You can inspire others. To officially do the challenge you check in each time on Facebook or Instagram.  On the first workout and every 10th work out you do a deeper cheek-in responding to a prompt. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard from people that they inspired a friend to join in the challenge or to just start moving. In a time when social media can be so negative why not put something positive out there! If social media is not for you, you can also inspire others who you interact with. Chances are they will probably notice something is different (in a good way) and ask you about it.

You build confidence. Accomplishing a goal that is hard and requires us to grow is so rewarding. When we are faced with a future hard challenge we can look back and remind ourselves that we can do hard things. We do have the discipline, a hard work ethic, and the persistence to be successful.

You get a t-shirt and/or a sticker! Who doesn’t love getting a t-shirt?! For members who do this challenge officially (see the rules below), you get a premium t-shirt and sticker! You also get to take a picture with THE BELT! If you complete 100 workouts, but don’t want to do it by the book, you get a 100-workout sticker! Invite your friends to join this challenge!
